Can the HDMI IC encoder chip cause this problem Please. Works using analogue and component but when using component i can't get 1080p to work When i try to select HDMI and then switch to HDMI input on tv it seems like it is communicating with the ps3 are you sure it's not the tv input or cable? a few months ago, I was trying to get an hdmi splitter to work with a stripper to send audio through an optical cable but retain audio with hdmi. however, the connection would die until i discovered a bad cable. it didn't even need to be using the input at the time. it was somehow disrupting everything else, so check all cables attached to the system. you're not routing it through a splitter are you? To be clear, recovery mode works, if you dont have a TV you can do it blind, if you are trying to update through recovery, i think the button sequence would be x5 down on DPAD just to be clear, your controller needs to be connected with a cable then start and select at the same time, then accept the terms of use by pressing right and then up or down and X to accept, i think after that it should work, leave it for 10 minutes or so and it should eventually reboot to normal mode, but maybe i missed an input. blind, reminds me of navigating the ps2 menu when switching to component. lol ps3xbox Member Joined Oct 6, 2017 Messages 192 Likes Received 13 Trophy Points 77 Thanks all. Please Thanks all it's possible, but I don't think it's likely. after all, the ps3 works in sd as well, so some people may not even have hdmi on their tv. my tv only has one hdmi port and a component port, but I have everything routed and upconverted to hdmi. however, on the 360, xell, which is kinda like a recovery menu, comes in three forms xell, xell reloaded and xellous. xell is the only one that can't output hdmi. it has to be av or you'll get a black screen. ps3xbox Member Joined Oct 6, 2017 Messages 192 Likes Received 13 Trophy Points 77 That is good point Something I was thinking also but just will not boot into recovery mode, what ever I do How I do It which way I do it It just does not want to display anything in recovery mode do you know if you're actually entering recovery mode, just no video?
